We welcome you to the 19th conference of the Social Psychology section (FGSP) of the German Psychological Society (DGPs), which will take place from September 14th to September 16th at the Ruhr University Bochum, Germany.
Prof. Wilhelm Hofmann & Prof. Hans Alves
Contributions can be submitted in English or German. Within a symposium, the language should be consistent. To ensure that English-speaking scholars can actively participate in the conference, we strongly encourage you to submit your contributions in English. In some cases, we may request that authors consider giving their presentations in English.
Poster
present completed empirical research projects. Posters are more suitable than presentations for discussing the details of a study with interested parties without the time constraints that are inevitable in presentations. No parallel sessions will take place during the poster presentation. The format for posters is DIN-A0 (portrait orientation), and the abstract for submission should not exceed 250 words.
Individual Talks
present completed empirical research projects. The presentation time, including discussion, is 15 minutes. The length of the abstract to be submitted is a maximum of 250 words.
Blitz-Talk Option:
When submitting your individual talk through our submission system, you can optionally apply with your individual talk for the "Blitz Talks" session of the conference by checking the corresponding box. In a Blitz Talk, you present your research to the audience in 5 minutes. There are two types of Blitz Talk sessions you can optionally apply for:
Both Blitz Talk sessions will be held as central events, i.e., without parallel program at the conference.
Symposia
bundle 4 to 5 presentations on a specific topic. Symposia are scheduled for 80 minutes (for example: 5 x 15 minutes + concluding discussion). The invitation, composition of the contributions, and their timing are the responsibility of the initiator. The initiator (“chair”) is responsible for registering the symposium.
Symposia are submitted in two steps:
Step 1 (Initiation): To register a symposium, the initiator must first submit the symposium title, a symposium abstract (max. 250 words) and up to two chairs on the separate symposium submission page:
https://app.oxfordabstracts.com/events/73957/symposia/create
Step 2 (submitting Symposium contributions): At the end of the symposium submission, the initiator can (a) submit his/her own contribution, if applicable, and (b) must invite the remaining contributors/presenters via their (institutional) Emails.
The individual contributors are then invited via this Email to register their own user account and submit their respective contributions as a "symposium contribution" via the regular submission system (i.e., this page). By using the same Email as from the invite, the system will be able to link the contributions within the symposium, and the initiator is able to monitor whether all contributions have been submitted.
Position Talks
are intended to present a well-founded and pointed scientific stance on a particular topic. The presentation time, including discussion, is 40 minutes. The abstract should not exceed 250 words.
Preconference Workshops
We aim to enrich the conference with a small, select number of workshops on current topics. These workshops will take place from 9.00 am to 12.30 am before the official start of the conference, i.e., on Sunday, 14 September 2025.
Please use this submission type if you would like to offer such a workshop, and in the abstract, provide a description of the workshop for our website (250 words). Additionally, we ask you to upload a document detailing the idea and planned organization (750 words). Preconference workshops can be registered in addition to a regular contribution (position paper, symposium contribution, individual presentation, poster).
